MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State head coach Emilee Thiesse has announced that Joselyn Ryan will join the women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach.

"We are excited to welcome Josey to our Maverick Basketball family," Thiesse said. "Her experience coaching at a high level, combined with her familiarity of the NSIC, gives her a unique perspective that will be a tremendous asset to our team. She is passionate about player development, committed to building meaningful relationships, and is a perfect fit with the culture and values of our program."

For the past two seasons, Ryan has served as an assistant coach/director of basketball operations for the California Baptist basketball team out of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). She coached the stretch forwards, including Reyleigh Hess who was named to the WAC All-Freshman Team.

Ryan also helped with recruiting, scouting and film breakdown. She helped coach CBU to a 23-11 record during the 2025-26 season as the Lancers won WAC regular season and tournament championships, before advancing on to the NCAA Tournament where they faced UCLA. The Lancers also finished 10th in the NCAA in defensive rebounds.

From 2022-24, Ryan served as a basketball coach with the Colorado Premier AAU program. There she would plan practices, run players ages U13, U15 and U17 through drills to develop skills and knowledge of the game.
Originally from La Vista, Neb., Ryan started in 35 games for the Wayne State Wildcats during her two seasons (2019-21) at WSC. She notched 344 points and 173 rebounds with the Wildcats and was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence in 2021.

Ryan would then join the Regis Rangers for her final three seasons (2021-24) as a student-athlete. She appeared in 80 games with the Rangers as she averaged 14.3 points per game. In total, she posted 1,140 points and 356 rebounds with the Rangers as she garnered a pair of All-RMAC Second Team honors. Ryan was also named to the All-South Region Second Team in 2024.

Ryan earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Regis in 2023, before attaining her master's degree in Applied Psychology at Regis in 2024.
