Mankato, Minn. ---   Fifth-rated Minnesota State scored first, but could not hold off visiting Bowling Green, bowing by a 4-1 margin to the Falcons Saturday in Mankato, Minn.

The Mavericks capitalized on a power play chance near the end of the opening period when freshman forward Jake Jaremko's wrister found the back of the net at the 19:32 mark. Jaremko had three points in Friday's 6-1 win in finishing with a four-point weekend.
 
BGSU forward Mitch McLain grabbed a loose puck off a rebound and shoveled the puck into an open net at 2:39 of the middle stanza, knotting the score at 1-1. Then, at 19:41 on a five-on-three power play chance, the Falcons took a 2-1 lead when Alec Rauhauser roofed one from the top of the right circle high on the gloveside past Connor LaCouvee.

BGSU added another at the beginning of the third period struck with Max Johnson's power play marker coming at the :54 mark and the Falcons capped of scoring in the game with a Rauhauser power play tally at 19:48.

Senior netminder Connor LaCouvee stopped 20 shots for the Mavericks and now stands 7-0-0 for the year.
 
The Mavericks, who are 9-4-0 overall and 7-3-0 WCHA, were outshot by the Falcons by a 24-21 margin in the contest.  Minnesota State was one-of-six in power play chances in the contest, while BGSU checked with a three-for-seven performance in opportunities with the man advantage.
 
Minnesota State plays at Minnesota Duluth in a single nonconference game next Saturday in its next action.
