Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla.--- The Minnesota State baseball program produced nine runs in the top of the first to tally 14 in a tilted 14-5 win against the Ashland University Eagles.
With the win, the Mavericks, now 7-5 on the season, are scheduled to play one-last game before leaving the Sunshine State.
In the first inning of action, Minnesota State struck first as freshman
Jordan Hart lead the Maverick's offensive push with his first career grand slam in their nine-run frame.
Senior
Taylor Branstad added to the mix with two runs batted in top of the third inning with a single to give the Mavericks a 11-0 lead.
Ashland University got on the board in the bottom of the third when the Eagles took advantage on a fielding error to make it an 11-1 game.
Sophomore
Dylan Dresel came up with a single in the top of the fifth, batting in two runs, cushioning Minnesota State's lead to 13-1. Ashland tallied another run in the bottom of the inning, pushing the game to 13-2.
Maverick starting pitcher, sophomore
Aaron Rozek was relieved by senior
Peter Gaustad in the bottom of the sixth inning, as AU batted in their final three runs of the game.
Dresel drove in one more run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to cap off the game's scoring at 14-5.
Freshman pitcher
Daniel Feneis cleaned up the ninth inning for the Mavericks, helping
Rozek move his record to 2-0 on the season.
Minnesota State resumes play with their final game in Florida against Grand Valley State. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. EST., in Auburndale, Fla.
