Mankato, Minn --- The Mavericks (3-2, 2-0) will bring out the mats in Taylor Center for the first time in the 2015-16 season as they host the MSU Moorhead Dragons (4-2, 0-0) on Thursday for an NSIC showdown.
Spearheading the charge for the Mavericks are
Matt Mincey (R-Sr., 157 lbs.),
Scott VanDeLoo (Sr., 184 lbs.),
Adam Cooling (Jr., 174 lbs.),
Alphonso Vruno (Sr., 141 lbs.) and
Malcolm Allen (R-Sr., 285 lbs.). Mincey comes into the match with an undefeated 12-0 record and a No. 6 ranking in Division II. VanDeLoo comes in at an 11-1 record, with his only loss coming a week ago at the National Duals.
Cooling goes into Thursday tied with
Paul Selman (Fr., 133 lbs.) for the team-lead in wins with 16. Vruno is currently third in the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 rankings, where he will have a tough match against the region's fifth-rated Kristian Vazquez. Allen is coming off a solid 3-0 record at the National Duals last weekend and currently ranks fifth in Super Region 3.
MSU Moorhead is led by junior Blake Bosch, who currently sits second in the nation at 133 pounds. A season ago, the Mavericks defeated the Dragons by a final score of 27-12.
