What's On Tap: The second-rated Minnesota State soccer team will return home to The Pitch to take on the Beavers of Bemidji State and the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles on Friday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m., respectively.
The Mavericks have not lost at home during the regular season since the 2010 season in which they lost to Bemidji State in the final game of the regular season. Over that time MSU is 25-0-4.

Looking Back at Last Week: The Mavericks offense came out of its shell as they scored eight times to defeat the University of Sioux Falls 8-1 on Saturday. The eight goals scored were the most by a Maverick team since they scored nine in a victory over Southwest Minnesota State in 2010.

On Sunday the Mavericks were able to avenge the loss they had last year in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Southwest Minnesota State, defeating the Mustangs 2-0. Junior
Korey Kronforst scored the game-winning goal off a beautiful setup from Savino and Nickel. Nickel added a goal of her own with just five minutes remaining with senior
Rebecca Pederson and Moris assisting on the play to solidify a Maverick victory.
Freshman Fury: Four freshmen recorded their first career points as Mavericks this past weekend.
Jenny Hoerter produced two goals and
Lexi Pszanka added a goal of her own in the win against USF.
Caitlin Foley assisted twice and
Abby Nordeen once in the 8-1 defeat of the Cougars.
Scouting the Beavers: BSU currently has a record of 3-3 on the season and a 2-1 record in league play. Last week the Beavers were on the road and defeated the University of Mary 2-1 in overtime before losing to Minot State 1-0 on Sunday. BSU is ranked ninth in the conference in points (21) and goals (8) while giving up seven goals thus far. The Beavers are being outshot 59-89 but have eight goals while allowing just seven.
Head coach Jim Stone is in his 13th season at the helm of the Beavers program and is the all-time leader in wins at BSU with a record of 128-98-23. Sophomore Sarah Strom (F/M, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) leads the team in points (8) and goals (4).
Inside the MSU vs. BSU Series: The Mavericks and the Beavers have met 10 times before with MSU leading the head-to-head contest with a 8-1-1 record.
Scouting the Golden Eagles: UMC has an overall record of 2-2-2 and 1-1-1 in NSIC play. Last week the Golden Eagles defeated Minot State 1-0 on the road before playing the University of Mary to a 1-1 tie in Bismarck, N.D.
Head coach Joe Alianiello is in his third season as head coach of the Golden Eagles and owns a 7-27-7 overall record. Junior Courtney Armborst (F, West St. Paul, Minn.) leads UMC with five goals and 10 points on the season. Sophomore Lexi Gauger (GK, Green Bay, Wis.) has started all six games in goal for the Golden Eagles and owns a 1.01 goals against average and has 22 saves while faceing 65 shots on the year. UMC is outshooting its opponents 73-70 and is averaging 2.17 goals per game while allowing 1.17.
Inside the MSU vs. UMC Series: The Mavericks have never lost to the Golden Eagles, boasting a record of 7-0-0. In their last meeting the MSU defeated UMC 3-1.
Program History: The 2014 season marks the 20th year of women's soccer as a varsity sport at Minnesota State. MSU claimed its second-straight NSIC regular-season championship last year after capturing NCC regular-season crowns in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2007. The Mavericks currently hold a 246-109-27 (.679) all-time record and 57-11-7 (.806) all-time mark in seven seasons in the NSIC. MSU has posted 16 consecutive winning seasons dating back to 1998.
