Morin Named AHL MVP

   Mankato, Minn. --- Former Minnesota State forward Travis Morin has been named the 2013-14 Les Cunningham Award recipient as the American Hockey League's Most Valuable Player.

Morin, a native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., who played for Minnesota State from 2003-07, led the American Hockey League in scoring this year with 32 goals and 55 assists for 87 points in 65 games as a member of the Texas Stars. A 2013-14 AHL First Team All-Star, Morin saw action in four games with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League this year and recorded his first point as a NHLer when he assisted on a goal by Eric Cole in a game in Dallas vs. the Calgary Flames on March 14.

A member of the 2006-07 All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association Second Team, Morin, who was named team MVP and led Mavericks in scoring as a senior, completed his career ranking third at Minnesota State in Division I-era scoring with 58-74—133 in 151 career games. A team captain as a senior, Morin ranks second on MSU's career games played list with 151 games and his 133 points ranks 18th all-time.
