Box Score Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. ---- The Minnesota State men's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead and never let up en route to a 5-0 Western Collegiate Hockey Association victory at Lake Superior State Friday in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

Max Gaede started the rout by scoring his second goal of the season on a wrap-around attempt at 2:41 of the opening period. Sophomore
Dylan Margonari got the first of his two goals in the game by tapping in a shot from in front of the net at 8:05.
Margonari notched his seventh goal of the season at 3:37 of the second period when he wristed a shot past LSSU senior Kevin Kapalka and the Mavericks headed into the second intermission owning a 3-0 lead.

Josh Nelson scored his first goal of the year with the Mavericks on the power play at 14:30 of the third period and junior forward
Chase Grant closed out the scoring with his seventh goal of the season coming at 15:27.

Zach Lehrke contributed a trio of assists in the win, while freshman forward

Matt Leitner had an assist in extending his point-scoring streak to 11 games.
Minnesota State, which has won six games in a row, stands 20-13-0 and is 18-7-0 in WCHA games with tonight's win.
Freshman netminder
Cole Huggins stopped all 14 shots in registering his fourth shut-out of the year. The Mavericks owned a 40-14 advantage in shots in the game.
The game marked MSU's third shut-out in a row – something that's never occurred in the history of Maverick Hockey. The last time MSU has allowed a goal was vs. Bemidji State Feb. 9 when Beaver forward Charlie O'Connor scored a shorthanded goal at the 1:50 mark of the third period in a 3-2 MSU win. MSU enters tomorrow's game not having given up a goal in the last 198 minutes and ten seconds of action.
The Mavericks and the Lakers close out the two-game league series Saturday night with a 7:07 p.m. face-off scheduled.
