Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State saw its four-game unbeaten streak snapped at the hands of No. 2 Wisconsin Friday night as the Badgers claimed a 5-1 victory behind three third-period goals in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action at All Seasons Arena.

The Mavericks drop to 12-20-1 overall and 7-19-1 in league play, while Wisconsin elevated its record to 24-5-2 on the year and 20-5-2 within the circuit.

Minnesota State retaliated with a goal of its own in the second period on senior
Kelsie Scott's (Souris, Man.) fifth marker of the season to slice the deficit to 2-1. Wisconsin senior netminder
Alex Rigsby attempted to clear the puck along the boards, but Scott intercepted the pass and beat Rigsby high on the right-hand side at 7:24 for an unassisted marker. The Maverick penalty-kill was in prime form in the stanza denying four Badger opportunities with the advantage as Butters increased her save total to 34 through 40 minutes of action.

That score held until the final 10 minutes of the third period when Wisconsin broke the game open. Senior
Madison Packer capitalized on a MSU turnover at 11:11 when she beat Butters underneath the cross bar on a shot from the slot. Then junior
Blayre Turnbull put the contest away with back-to-back short-handed goals at 12:34 and 15:37, respectively, securing the 5-1 victory.

Butters registered a game-high 45 saves for the Purple and Gold, while Rigsby stopped 20 for the Badgers. Both teams were held scoreless on four power-play opportunities in the affair.

The two teams will return to action in their regular-season finale tomorrow afternoon at 3:07 p.m. The contest will mark the final contest at All Seasons Arena for eight Maverick seniors.
