GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team ended its road trip on a high note Sunday as it defeated the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 8-1.
With the win, MSU improves to 3-6 on the season, including a 2-3 mark in NSIC play. With the loss, Minnesota Crookston falls to 1-4 on the season and in league action.
MSU began the day winning all three of the doubles matches.

Melissa Mashburn won the No. 1 doubles match 8-3, while junior

Alexis Ronney followed suit with an 8-3 win in the second doubles match. Sophomore

Abby Schmidt won the third doubles match 8-2.
MSU then went on to win five of the six singles matches, with UMC winning the third singles match by default.
McCann won the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3, while Mashburn won the second singles match 6-2, 6-1. Haakedahl won the No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-1, with Ronney winning the No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Schmidt won the sixth singles match 6-4, 6-3 to wrap up MSU's 8-1 win.
The Mavericks return to action Saturday, March 1, as they take on Gustavus Adolphus and MSU Moorhead in St. Peter, Minn.
