Box Score Mankato, Minn. --- The Mavericks were unable to stymie the number 2 ranked Golden Gophers as they scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods and one more in the final stanza to notch the 5-1 win.

With the loss the Mavericks drop to 0-12-1 overall and 0-10-1 in WCHA play while the Gophers move to 10-1-2 and 8-1-2 in league play.

Minnesota came out rolling in the first period as they outshot the Mavericks 17-7.  The Gophers were able to capitalize on their first of five power-play opportunities as Dani Cameranesi netted her first of three on the night to give Minnesota a 2-0 lead going into the second period.

The Gophers were able to slide two more past Maverick junior goaltender Erin Krichiver who made 15 more saves in the second period.  The Mavericks were able to gain some momentum going into the third period when senior captain Natalie Stoltz cruised down the right side of the offensive zone and shot the puck to the weak side where Minnesota goaltender Amanda Leveille spit out a rebound to freshman defenseman Anna Keys who was able to bury the first goal of her career at 19:26 of the period.

In the final period, the Gophers solidified the win when Cameranesi tipped the puck just below Krichiver's glove off of a shot from defenseman Rachael Ramsey from the point on the power play at the 17:28 mark of the period to cap off the hat trick.

Minnesota State was outshot 57-16 on the evening. Minnesota also held the power-play advantage in scoring on two of five chances while the Mavericks were unable to capitalize on their lone opportunity.

The Mavericks take on the Gophers again tomorrow afternoon at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. The opening faceoff is set for 4:07 p.m.
