MSU looks to stay perfect in NSIC action with a doubleheader on Tuesday before a pair of double dips this weekend

Mavericks Prepare for Pair of Conference Foes

MANKATO, Minn. - The No. 15 Minnesota State Mavericks return to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action this week as the team is set to host Concordia Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., before taking to the road to face U-Mary in a pair of noon doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

A Look at the Golden Bears: The Concordia Golden Bears own a 13-7 overall record, 5-3 in the NSIC, and are on a five-game winning streak after taking the final game in their series against Bemidji State before sweeping a four-game series against U-Mary last weekend.  Led offensively by Bryan Lippincott's 35 hits, Lippincott owns a .479 batting average with two home runs, 24 RBI and 22 runs scored.  Lippincott has also recorded a team-best 12 doubles, 11 walks and is 3-for-5 on stolen base attempts.  Also swinging a hot stick for the Golden Bears is Logan Bouts (.430 avg.) and Kyle Dalton (.425 avg.) as Bouts is tied for the team lead with 24 RBI.  Leading CU on the bump is Ben Lemke who owns a 2-2 record with a 2.89 ERA.  Lemke has allowed nine earned runs on 25 hits while striking out 29 batters in 28.0 innings pitched.  Adam Kramer leads the Golden Bears with 32 strikeouts while owning a 2-2 record and a 3.60 ERA.

A Look at the Marauders: The U-Mary Marauders, owners a 2-20 overall record (1-7 NSIC), are on a seven-game losing streak and will play a doubleheader against Northern State Tuesday before hosting the Mavericks.  The Marauders are led at the plate by James Carroll who is batting .386 with a team-best 17 hits in 44 at-bats.  Carroll also leads U-Mary with two home runs while he is tied for second with six RBI.  Cory Herback is the team leader with seven RBI while owning a .295 batting average.  Jeff Skadeland and Kyle Lozensky have each started six games on the mound for the Marauders as Skadeland owns a 0-5 record with a 5.81 ERA while Lozensky is 0-4 with a 6.32 ERA.  Lozensky leads the team with 16 strikeouts and has allowed 22 earned runs on 42 hits in 31.1 innings of work.

Last Weekend: Minnesota State went 3-1 last weekend in a pair of doubleheaders against the University of Sioux Falls.  The Mavericks took both games Friday (6-2, 7-1) before splitting Saturday's doubleheader (W, 8-0; L, 2-4).  Senior Harvey Martin earned his sixth win of the season in Friday's first game before sophomore Bryce Bellin picked up his fourth win of the season in the second game.  Bellin fanned 10 batters in just four innings of relief work while allowing no runs or hits.  On Saturday, senior Ben Kincaid picked up his third win of the season after allowing no runs on just three hits while striking out nine batters in a complete-game effort.  Recording seven hits over the weekend for MSU was junior Mike Eckhart and senior Matt Kuchenbecker.  Sophomore Todd Standish led MSU with a .625 batting average after going 5-for-8 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.  Kincaid was the lone Maverick to hit a home run while he also led the way with four RBI.
