Jesse Westphal defeated No. 2 Trevor Johnson in a 7-4 decision.
Sophomore
David Demo got the Mavericks on the board early defeating Hunter Menendez in a 16-1 tech fall. Senior
Brian Reisenauer followed up the tech fall with a 5-3 decision win of his own over Kyle Larson. Both teams were open at 141-lb resulting in a double forfeit.
In the 149-lb showdown, Johnson recorded a first period takedown to take a 2-0 lead. Following an escape, Westphal recorded an escape, takedown and a three-point near fall to close out the first period. Johnson recorded an escape in the second period and received a point via Westphal stalling early in the third. Westphal closed out the match with an escape to seal the 7-4 win.
Senior
Tel Todd defeated Collin Engelhardt 2-1 in a triple overtime thriller at 157-lb. Freshman
Cody Quinn defeated Taylor Nagel 6-0 in the 165-lb showdown. Sophomore
Brendan Eichmann closed out the scoring for MSU by defeating Brock Krumm in a 11-2 major decision. MSU lost the last three bouts all by decisions to end the night with a 21-9 win.
Minnesota State will be in action Thursday, February 16 as they host No. 1 St. Cloud State at Bresnan Arena. The action will kick off at 7 p.m.
