Mavericks and Marauders to Open NSIC Schedule in Nebraska

On Tap: The Minnesota State baseball squad, 7-5 overall, will face-off against the University of Mary Marauders Sunday and Monday, in a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheaders at Westside High School in Omaha, Neb. Sunday's doubleheader is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start, while Monday's is schedule to begin at 10:00 a.m.

A Look at the Marauders:
The Mary Marauders currently own a 4-6 overall mark...Junior infielder Steve Pletan leads UM with a .382 batting average and 13 hits (ranks second on the team)...freshman infielder Alex Deyle is the owner of a team-high 14 hits, all of which are singles...Pletan also owns a team-best 10 RBI...Sophomore pitcher Kyle Lozensky leads the Marauders on the mound so far this season, with a 1-1 record, 5.14 ERA, two games started, two complete games and 12 strikeouts.

Last Week: The Mavericks made their way down to Nebraska, where they played three nonconference contests, two against Bemidji State and one against Nebraska Omaha...The Mavericks finished the trip by sweeping the Beavers by scores of 10-5 and 5-0, but fell to UNO, 6-5 in the bottom of the tenth inning...Junior outfielder Ben Kincaid led the team wit ha .500 batting average, going 5-for-10 at the plate, scoring four runs and earning two RBI...Senior outfielder Danny Miller was also successful at the plate, going 5-for-12 with a triple, four RBI and one run scored.

Leading the Way: Senior outfielder/pitcher Danny Miller currently leads the Mavericks in hits with 15...Miller and senior infielder Zach Rowles each have played in and started all 12 games this season...Freshman outfielder Scott Lindner leads the Mavericks in batting average (.364)...Junior outfielder/pitcher Ben Kincaid has hit a team-best three doubles, Miller has tagged three triples on the year, while junior infielder Pat Dockendorf has ripped two home runs on the year...NSIC Preseason Pitcher of  the Year pick Blake Schwartz leads MSU on the mound with a 3-0 mark and a team-best 1.1.6 ERA, while Miller (2-1) holds a team-high 20 strikeouts.

In the NSIC: As a team, the Mavericks rank in the top-five in 13 categories: #1 in triples (7), tied for #1 in sacrifice bunts (10), tied for #1 in sacrfice flies (7), #2 in earned run average (2.21), #2 in opposing batting average (.221), tied for #2 in wins (7), #3 in home runs (5), #3 in hit by pitch (16), #4 in fielding percentage (.953), #5 in total bases (151), #5 in total plate appearances (457), #5 in innings pitched (96.0) and #5 in hits (108)...Individually, senior Danny Miller ranks #1 in triples with three, while junior infielder Pat Dockendorf is tied for second with two...Dockendorf is tied for #1 in  home runs with two...Miller sits #5 in total bases...Junior infielder Matt Kuchenbecker ranks #1 in sacrifice bunts with four...Senior right-handed pitcher Blake Schwartz is tied for first in wins with three and sits #4 in ERA with 1.17, opposing batting average with .198 and innings pitched with 23...Sophomore righty Mahlon Zimmermann is tied for #1 in saves (2), appearances (5) and stands alone at #1 in games finished.
