What Lies Ahead: The No. 20 Minnesota State Mavericks (18-8, 11-7 NSIC) play their final regular season games of the 2011 season this weekend as the team travels to Bemidji, Minn., Friday to take on Bemidji State before going to Duluth, Minn., to face No. 2 Minnesota Duluth Saturday.
A Look Back At Final Home Week: The Mavericks played their final three regular season home matches last week and proceeded to go 3-0. MSU went five sets Tuesday and Friday in winning efforts against Minnesota Crookston and Northern State, respectively, before sweeping U-Mary in three sets Saturday afternoon. The Mavericks attack had a slightly different look to it as senior setter
Alli Rice moved to a hitter, leaving her libero role to junior
Samantha Dale. Rice went on to record 37 kills (2.85 per set) with a .248 hitting percentage in her first week as a hitter. Dale also made the most of her new opportunity recording 52 digs (4.00 per set). MSU was led at the net by junior outside hitter
Chelsea Fogarty who tallied 68 kills (5.23 per set) with a .333 hitting percentage. Fogarty also added 30 digs and 11 total blocks. Junior middle blocker
Jill Storlie recorded the second most kills posting 50 (3.85 per set) with a .330 hitting percentage. Pacing the Mavericks with 166 assists (12.7 per set) was senior setter
Brittany Stamer who also added nine kills, four service aces and 37 digs (2.85 per set). Making the most out of her first action in a home match was freshman
Tiana Runck who added 14 kills (2.00 per set) with a .323 hitting percentage.
NSIC All-Conference For Three Mavericks: The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released its 2011 All-Conference team Tuesday, Nov. 8 which included three Mavericks. Earning a spot on the NSIC All-Conference team for the Mavericks were senior setter
Brittany Stamer, junior outside hitter
Chelsea Fogarty and junior middle blocker
Jill Storlie. The award marks the second all-conference honor for Stamer and third overall as she earned NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2009 while it is the first for both Fogarty and Storlie.
