A Quick Look Back: The No. 19 Minnesota State Mavericks went 1-1 last week as the team was swept Friday by top-ranked Concordia (20-25, 22-25, 17-25) before completing a sweep of their own against St. Cloud State (25-18, 25-11, 25-16). In the loss to Concordia, senior defensive specialist
Alli Rice recorded 14 digs as she moved into third place on the school’s all-time digs list, she now has 1,218 for her career as she remains 36 away from second. MSU was led offensively by junior middle blocker
Jill Storlie who recorded 23 kills on 37 attempts (3.83 per set, .514). Against St. Cloud State, Storlie missed just one attempt as she killed 17 of her 18 tries (.944). Junior outside hitter
Chelsea Fogarty was second on the team with 17 kills (2.82 per set) while also recording 16 digs. Senior setter
Brittany Stamer led the Mavericks with 71 assists (11.80 per set) and finished with a second-best 22 digs (3.67 per set). Stamer now has 4,257 career assists as she needs 111 more to become the school’s all-time leader.
Inching Closer To The Top: Last year setter Brittany Stamer led the Mavericks with 1,191 assists as she became the fifth Maverick to join the MSU 3,000 assist club. Stamer has recorded 822 assists this year as she recently joined the MSU 4,000 assist club which only one previous Maverick has accomplished. Stamer currently owns 4,257 career assists, remaining 111 away from the school’s all-time record. Jen Blendermann (1999-2002) currently owns the all-time assist record with 4,367. Stamer has averaged 1,145 assists per season throughout her first three years as she moved into second on the all-time list earlier this season.
