La Crosse, Wis. --- Minnesota State senior Denise Mokaya reached the NCAA Division II automatic qualifying standard in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:49.54, Friday evening at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open. Mokaya’s time was good for second place in the race.
A pair of pole vaulters recorded top-five finishes for the Mavericks as sophomore Dan Novak won the event with a vault of 16’00 ¾”, while junior Nick Yenser was fifth with a vault of 15’7”.
The 4x400-meter relay team turned in a third-place finish with a time of 3:15.31. The squad was made up of freshman Austin Eliason, junior Adam Endres, senior Brady Flies and senior Sam Lance.
The Mavericks continue action Saturday at the Winona State Qualifier.
