MAYETTA, Kan. --- The Minnesota State men's golf teams wrapped up action at the Firekeeper Open Tuesday.
The three-round Firekeeper Open was held at the par-72 Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kan. Seventeen teams competed at the event as the Mavericks finished in 14th place with scores of 300-301-303—904 (+40). Central Oklahoma finished first in the team standings with a score of 288-282-285—855 (-9). Washburn's Myles Tarvin (68-69-73—210) and Central Oklahoma's Rhett Hughes (72-66-72—210) finished first in the individual standings at -6.
Junior
Karson Patten shot a 71 in the final round to finish 10th in the overall standings at +2. Patten recorded four birdies in his final round, including three on the back nine.
Sophomore
Michael Johnson shot a 77 in the final round as he finished the event at +15. Senior
Leo Werschay shot a 79 to finish one stroke behind Johnson at +16. Freshman
Sam Swavely recorded a 76 to finish at +20 as well.
Freshman
Paul Rezko, who competed independently, posted a 75 in the final, including an even 36 on the back nine, to finish at +39. Senior
Hogan Ordal did not compete in the third round of the open.
