EMPORIA, Kan. --- Minnesota State's
Braxton Stewart finished first in the decathlon at the ESU Midwest Classic Friday.
Stewart finished first as he tallied a provisional qualifying score of 6,788 points. Stewart took first place in four of the events of the decathlon including the discus (38.94m, 127-9), high jump (1.87m, 6-1.50), pole vault (4.20m, 13-9.25) and shot put (13.86m, 45-5.75).
Konrad Klek took fourth place in the decathlon with 5,797 points. He took second place in the 400m with a time of 50.62 and fourth place in both the 100m (11.28) and 1,500m (4:52.08).
Jonah McCormick finished fifth with a score of 5,638 with
Tanguy Krzepisz following in sixth with a score of 5,251. McCormick took second in the 110m hurdles (15.58) and the pole vault (4.00m, 13-1.50), while Krzepisz won the 110m hurdles (15.31) and tied for second in the pole vault (4.00m, 13-1.50.).
Minnesota State returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts the Stomper Open at the Mark Schuck Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
