BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- Minnesota State's
Miranda Lauvstad has been named the NSIC Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts last week.
A senior from Nesoeya, Norway, Lauvstad set a school record in the heptathlon event with a score of 5,671 points, which is the third best in Division II. She also won the 400m hurdles (1:01.56) and the long jump (6.16m, 20-2.5) events at the Minnesota State Open. Her jump of 6.25m (20-6.25) in the long jump event at the Bryan Clay Multi is the second longest in Division II this season.
Lauvstad is the second Maverick to be named the NSIC Field Athlete of the Week this season, with the previous award going to
Ghada Hamdani on March 31.
Minnesota State continues its season on Sunday as it travels to Pittsburg, Kan., to compete in the Pitt State Tune Up.
