Mavericks Set for Road Matchups Against Concordia-St. Paul and Sioux Falls

MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State Mavericks (15-6, 8-1 NSIC) will hit the road this weekend for a three-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference series against Concordia-St. Paul in Minnetonka, Minnesota, before traveling to Sioux Falls for a midweek doubleheader.

The Mavericks and Golden Bears (10-14, 5-7 NSIC) will open the series with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. CT at Veterans Field. The series will conclude on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon.

Minnesota State will then head to Sioux Falls (10-13, 6-3 NSIC) on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader against the Cougars, with game times set for 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Last Time Out

Minnesota State is coming off a dominant three-game sweep of Minot State on March 13–14.

The Mavericks opened the series with an 8-1 victory behind a complete-game performance from Sam George, who struck out 10 batters over seven innings while allowing just one run. Offensively, Jake Berkland led the way with four RBIs, including a three-run home run, while Owen Sikkink collected three hits.

In game two, MSU secured a 4-1 win. Charlie Schau highlighted the effort with a solo home run, while CJ Trask delivered a key two-run double in the seventh inning. Mack Crowley earned the win, and Daniel Zang closed the door with four scoreless innings to record the save.

The Mavericks completed the sweep with a 13-2 run-rule victory in the finale. Cole Yearsley paced the offense with four hits, including a home run, while Brandon Vlcko capped the scoring with a grand slam. Louis Magers earned the win on the mound, and Ben Irsfeld added two scoreless innings in relief.

Scouting Concordia-St. Paul

Concordia-St. Paul enters the weekend with a 10-14 overall record after being swept in a three-game series by Wayne State.

Junior Cole Newell leads the Golden Bears pitching staff with a 3.86 ERA over 11.2 innings pitched. Offensively, junior Charlie Harms leads the team with a .375 batting average, totaling 33 hits, 25 runs scored, and 19 RBIs in 24 games.

Scouting Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls will host Minnesota State on Tuesday following a double header series against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. 

Junior Brady Baur leads the Cougars on the mound with a 3.18 ERA and a 4-1 record across 22.2 innings pitched. Senior Dominic Vogel paces the offense with a .368 batting average and has appeared in all 22 games, recording 14 RBIs.
