LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished in fourth place at the SMSU Classic Tuesday.
The two-round SMSU Classic was held at the par-70 Wigwam Resort in Litchfield, Ariz. Illinois Wesleyan (299-304—603) and Nebraska-Kearney (298-305—603) finished in a tie for first place in the team standings at +43. Minnesota State finished in fourth place in the team standings as the Mavericks posted a 305-308—613 (+53). Illinois Wesleyan's Gigi Zera took first place in the individual standings with scores of 70-75—145 (+5).
Junior
Victoria Woytassek finished the event in second place as she recorded 76 in the second round to finish with a 147 (+7). Junior
Lauryn Kelly shot a 77 in the final round to finish five strokes behind Woytassek at 152 (+12).
Senior
Samantha Youngquist finished in 17th place as she shot a 76 in round two to finish with a 155 (+15). Senior
Ava Olson and sophomore
Emerson Garlie finished in 30th place as they recorded scores of 82 and 79, respectively, to finish with overall scores of 162 (+22).
Competing independently, freshman
Karalyn Skinner finished in 24th place as she shot a 72 in the second round to finish at 160 (+20) for the event. Junior
Lauren Brown posted an 82 in the second round to finish at +25 overall, with junior
Emma Berge following to strokes behind at 167 (+27).
Minnesota State continues its spring schedule on March 30-31 as it takes part in the NSIC Preview at the Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo.
