LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished round one of the SMSU Classic in third place Monday.
The two-round SMSU Classic is being held at the par-70 Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. A total of 12 teams are competing at the event. As a team, MSU shot a 305 (+25) in the first round.
Nebraska-Kearney leads the team standing after round one as the Lopers shot a 298 (+18). Illinois Wesleyan's Gigi Zera leads the individual standings with a 70 (E).
"I'm happy with how the girls played today, with the first being outside and on grass," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "I'm excited for the day tomorrow."

Victoria Woytassek led the way for the Mavericks as she finished round one in second place with a 71 (+1). Woytassek notched three birdies and shot an even 36 on the front nine.

Lauryn Keller finished round one in sixth place as she shot a 75 (+5) which included a pair of birdies. Senior
Samantha Youngquist followed in 20th place with a 79 (+9).

Ava Olson recorded an 80 (+10) ion the first round also, while sophomore
Emerson Garlie posted an 83 (+13).

Lauren Brown and freshman
Karalyn Skinner all competed independently. Berge shot an 80 (+10), with Brown following with an 83 (+13). Skinner posted an 88 (+18) as well.
