LILBURN, Ga. — The Minnesota State women's basketball team moved to No. 5 in this week's WBCA Coaches Poll following a 2-1 showing at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Tournament. The Mavericks (29-2) dropped two spots after previously holding the No. 3 ranking, following their second loss of the season in the NSIC Tournament championship game to Concordia-St. Paul.
Conference rival Concordia-St. Paul (27-4) entered the WBCA Top 25 this week at No. 22, marking the only other NSIC team ranked in the poll. Minnesota State remains the highest-ranked team from the conference.
MSU also earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Central Region Tournament and will open postseason play at home against No. 8 seed Minnesota Duluth on Friday, March 13 at 5 p.m. Tickets for the NCAA Regional Tournament in Mankato are available online.
