NEW ORLEANS - Minnesota State women's indoor track and field was rated No. 4 in NCAA Division II by USTFCCCA at checkpoint No. 2 on Tuesday (Feb. 4). Pittsburg State remained the top rated team in the nation, followed by Grand Valley State, West Texas A&M and Minnesota State.
Minnesota State was the only team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rated inside the top-20. Maverick student-athletes hold three top-marks in the nation, including
Miranda Lauvstad in both the long jump and pentathlon. She set both marks at the Mark Schuck Open & Multi over the weekend, including 6.24m (20-5.75) in long jump and a school and venue record score in pentathlon (4,118).
Ghada Hamdani also leads the country in triple jump. She jumped 12.93m (42-5) at the Chuck Petersen Open on Dec. 5.
The Mavericks hosted the Mark Schuck Open & Multi at Myers Field House last weekend, which featured nearly 2,000 student-athletes representing 24 schools from multiple NCAA Divisions. Minnesota State women's track and field continues its season at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Feb. 6-7 in Lincoln, Nebraska and at the University of Minnesota Classic on Feb. 7 in Minneapolis.
