NEW ORLEANS - Minnesota State men's indoor track and field was rated No. 5 in NCAA Division II by USTFCCCA at checkpoint No. 2 on Tuesday (Feb. 4). Wingate remained the top rated team in the nation, followed by Pittsburg State, Grand Valley State and Adams State. The Mavericks were rated No. 4 last week.
Minnesota State was the only team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rated inside the top-20.
Hayden Bills leads the nation in shot put, with a mark of 19.09m (62-7.50) set at the Chuck Peterson Open (Dec. 5).
Jayden Singleton ranks second in the nation in 200 meters. He ran a time of 21.35 seconds at the Chuck Petersen Open.
The Mavericks hosted the Mark Schuck Open & Multi at Myers Field House last weekend, which featured nearly 2,000 student-athletes representing 24 schools from multiple NCAA Divisions. Minnesota State men's track and field continues its season at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Feb. 6-7 in Lincoln, Nebraska and at the University of Minnesota Classic on Feb. 7 in Minneapolis.
