MANKATO, Minn. – Punctuated by a meet record in the final relay of the evening, No. 4 Minnesota State men's track and field hosted another successful Mark Schuck Open and Multi at Myers Field House. The Mavericks faced competition from 24 other colleges.

"What a wonderful weekend hosting the Mark Schuck Open & Multi," said head coach
Mike Turgeon. "We hosted the largest track and field meet our coaching staff can recall, with 1,278 student-athletes competing across 1,901 entries. Myers Field House had a fun and exciting atmosphere throughout the weekend. Our teams are really coming together, and we are looking forward to splitting our squad next week as we compete at the University of Nebraska and the University of Minnesota.

The MSU men's 4x400 meter relay, consisting of
Tyreese James,
Jayden Singleton,
Rinaldo Moore and
Quinton Ellis ran to first place in a meet record time of 3:18.84, ahead of Dordt (Iowa), which ran it in 3:19.12.

On Saturday,
Paul Lins placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:16.23 (personal best).
Rinaldo Moore set a personal best in 60 meter hurdles with his first place time of 7.86, which was third in NCAA Division II.
Keaton Wattier finished just a hundredth of a second behind Moore with a time of 7.87 and the fourth quickest time in NCAA Division II this season.

Mavericks also spearheaded 60 meter dash finals, with first place
Tyreese James posting a time of 6.88 and
Kenjuan Hampton crossing in 6.89. In 400 meters,
Qai Hussey came in third with a time of 49.33.
Tyrel Robinson was also fourth in 50.02 seconds.

Kenjuan Hampton took second place in 200 meters with his time of 21.86 (personal best), behind only Concordia St. Paul's Del Johnson Jr. (21.77). The Mavericks grabbed third and fourth place in 5000 meters with
Jack Kendall (third, 15:15.64) and
Erek Ross (fourth, 15:17.22).

In the field,
Terrance Thomas was first with his mark of 7.52m (24-8.25), good for third in NCAA Division II and 35
th across all divisions. Andrew Edwards won the weight throw event for Sioux Falls (20.14m, 66-1.00), but MSU's
Jackson McNulty was second with a mark of 18.42m (60-5.25).

High jump went to MSU, as
Hugo Albanese set a personal record and new Division II 30
th best mark at 2.05m (6-8.75).
Hayden Bills won in shot put, landing at 18.04m (59-2.25).
Dylan Gross came in third with a mark of 17.03m (55-10.50), 21
st in NCAA Division II.

With a season best,
Aiden Mendenhall was MSU's top finisher in triple jump. He landed in the sand in fourth place at 14.58m (47-10.00), 44
th in NCAA Division II.

Heptathlon competition concluded Saturday and Jonny Cheney (Sioux Falls) held his position with a final score of 5,070.
Jonah McCormick took ninth (4,440) for MSU and
Konrad Klek was tenth (4,326).

The Mavericks continue indoor track and field season at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Feb. 6-7 in Lincoln, Nebraska and at the University of Minnesota Classic on Feb. 7.
