INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Minnesota State women's basketball (27-1, 21-1 NSIC) sits atop the Central Region in the latest NCAA Division II women's basketball regional rankings.
The Mavericks lead a group of four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) teams ranked, alongside No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 9 Minnesota Duluth, and No. 10 University of Mary.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC), and the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 41-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 13, 14 & 16. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC, and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The road to the NCAA Tournament continues for Minnesota State, with Selection Sunday set for March 8. The NCAA Elite Eight is scheduled for March 24, 26, and 28 at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Minnesota State opens postseason play this weekend at the NSIC Tournament, where the Mavericks will face the winner of Sioux Falls and St. Cloud State in the quarterfinal round. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, inside the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
