MANKATO, Minn. — Sophomore infielder
Jake Berkland has been named NSIC Player of the Week after a strong performance at the plate.
Berkland went 8-for-16 (.500) in four starts, scoring four runs and driving in seven RBI to help the Mavericks finish 3-1 on the week.
His best game came in a 12-6 win over University of Indianapolis, where he hit for the cycle. He tripled in the first inning, doubled in the third, singled in the fourth and hit a home run in the fifth. He finished the game with five hits and five RBI.
During the week, Berkland recorded two doubles, one triple and three home runs, including two home runs against Missouri Southern State University. He also drew two walks and stole three bases.
Up next the Mavericks face Jamestown for a four game series this weekend.
