Lauvstad Leads Mavericks at Mark Schuck Open & Multi Day 1

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State women's track and field wrapped up day one of the Mark Schuck Open and Multi at Myers Field House late Friday night. Miranda Lauvstad led the Mavericks with a win in pentathlon and a score of 4,118.

Lauvstad finished first in 60 meter hurdles, shot put, long jump and 800 meters and placed third in high jump. She finished first in the same event at the Mark Schuck Open & Multi last season with a score of 4,074 and second in 2023-24.
 
Alexa Post also had a strong day in pentathlon, with a second place overall finish (3701). Post placed second in long jump and third in 60 meter hurdles.
 
In 3000 meter distance, Ashley Overgaauw took first place for the Mavericks in a field of over 40 runners with a time of 9:58.22.
 
Alexis Pratt (St. Thomas) won the 300 meter event. MSU's Grace Obour came in second (40.06) and Kenyatta Grate was third (40.58). Lillian Strong was also third in 200 meters with a time of 26.68.
 
Brianna Villanti placed first in long jump on Friday with a mark of 5.30m (17-4.75), a season best. Melanie Marks also placed third (5.15m, 16-10.75).
 
Lauren Bird set a season best in weight throw and topped the podium with a throw of 16.26m (53-4.25). The mark was 66th best in NCAA Division II this season.
 
The Mavericks are back in action Saturday at Myers Field House. Track events begin at 10 a.m. with field events set for noon.
