LAKE, CITY, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's golf team finished the Jewell Invitation in third place Tuesday afternoon.
MSU notched a final score of 285-280—565 (-11) to take third place. Winona State finished first with a score of 276-270—546 (-30), while Bemidji State took second place with scores of 279-281—560 (-16). Winona State's Peyton Coahran finished first in the individual standings with scores of 69-66—135 (-9).
"I'm really happy with how the guys played today," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "We made a lot of birdies and it was fun to see."
Senior
Ryan Darling and freshman
Sam Swavely led the way for the Mavericks as they both finish tied for ninth at -4. Darling posted scores of 72-68—140, while Swavely shot 70-70—140. Darling recorded five birdies in round two, while Swavely posted three.
Senior
Hogan Ordal finished in 12th place, just one shot back of Darling and Swavely with scores of 72-69—141, which included an eagle on the par 5 ninth hole during his second round.
Sophomore
Michael Johnson finished in 33rd shooting a 71-76—147 (+3), while junior
Karson Patten shot a 78-73—151 (+7) to finish in 46th place. Freshman
Waii Chidtawan Wangrungwichaisri tallied a n 85-76—161 (+17) also, while freshman
Paul Rezko shot 78-78—156 (+12) independently.
Minnesota State returns to action on Oct. 6-7 as they take part in the Skip Wagnon Invitational in Edmond, Okla.
