HUDSON, Wis. —- The Minnesota State men's golf team finished in fourth place at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl at the Troy Burne Golf Club.
As a team, the Mavericks shot a 285-298—583 (+15) to finish in fourth place. Winona State finished first in the team standings with a 272-283—555 (-13). Winona State's Peyton Coahran led the individual field as he finished with a 66-71—137 (-5).
"The men put together a pretty solid day one, with three guys finishing under par," head coach Alex Schmitz said. "We still have to try to find that fourth score. Unfortunately, we had too many big numbers on the card today."
Senior Hogan Ordal paced the Mavericks as he finished in ninth place shooting a 69-73—142 (E), which saw him record eight birdies. Senior Ryan Darling took 13th place as he shot a 70-73 (+1) which included seven birdies.
Junior Karson Patten shot 69-78–147 (+5) as he recorded four birdies during both rounds, while junior Jack Schrader took 35th place with a score of 77-74—151 (+9). Schrader recorded five birdies as well. Senior Leo Werschay finished 52nd with a 77-78—155 (+13) also.
Sophomore Michael Johnson and freshmen Sam Swavely and Waii Chidtawan Wangrungwichaisri competed independently as well.
Swavely finished in 16th shooting +2 as he notched rounds of 74-70—144, while Johnson finished in 22nd with a 71-76—147 (+5). Waii recorded a 78-74—152 (+10) to finish in 38th.
Minnesota State continues its season on Sept. 22-23 as it takes part in the Jewell Invitational hosted by Winona State at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
