Thirteen Home Games Highlight 2025-26 Maverick Men’s Basketball Schedule

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's basketball team will compete in 30 games during the 2025-26 season, including 13 games at home in Taylor Center.

Last season, Minnesota State went 20-12 marking the 15th time under head coach Matt Margenthaler that the Mavericks recorded 20 wins in a season. MSU finished in a tie for third in the NSIC standings with a 15-7 record as it advanced to the semifinals of the NSIC Tournament.

"This year's schedule promises competitive matchups early that will allow us to gauge where we are as a team before we kick off the always tough NSIC schedule," Margenthaler said. "The 13 home games will be exciting for our Maverick fans."

Minnesota State opens its season on Halloween as it heads to the CCA Tip-off Classic in St. Joseph, Mo. On Oct. 31, the Mavericks will take on Northwest Missouri State at 5:00 p.m., before taking on Pittsburg State on Nov. 2 at 4:00 p.m.

Two weeks later, MSU will head to Pittsburg, Kan., to take part in a pair of games at the Central Region Challenge on Nov. 14-15. It's opponents and game times are to be determined.

The Mavericks open their home slate on Nov. 18 as they host Crown College, with tip-off to be determined. MSU will then travel down to Sioux Falls, S.D., to take part in the USF Classic. Nov. 21 will see the Mavericks take on Chadron State, before they square off with Grand Valley State on Nov. 22.

Minnesota State finishes the month of November with a pair of games at home. MSU opens NSIC action on Nov. 25 as it takes on St. Cloud State at 7:30 p.m., before it wraps up its nonconference schedule with a game against Waldorf on Nov. 29.

December will see the Mavericks compete in six games, including three at home in Taylor Center. MSU starts the month with a 5:30 p.m. road game at Winona State on Dec. 4, before returning to Taylor Center for a three-game homestand. Dec. 6 will see the Mavericks square off with Concordia-St. Paul at 1:00 p.m., while Dec. 11 will see Wayne State make the trip to Taylor Center for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The Mavericks wrap their homestand on Dec. 13 against Augustana.

Minnesota State closes out the 2025 calendar year on the road with games at Southwest Minnesota State on Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m. and at Sioux Falls on Dec. 20.

The month of January will see Minnesota State compete in nine games, including four at home. MSU opens the new year with a three game road trip starting on Jan. 3 against St. Cloud State. MSU then travels to North Dakota to take on UMary on Jan. 9 and Minot State on Jan. 10. Tip-offs are set for 5:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.

Minnesota State then begins a four-game homestand on the weekend of Jan 16-17 as it welcomes in Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State. MSU starts the weekend with a 5:30 encounter with the Bulldogs, before finishing the weekend with a 3:30 p.m. game against the Beavers. MSU then takes on Northern State on Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m., before facing NSIC newcomer Jamestown on Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

MSU closes out the month of January with a pair of road games at Minnesota Crookston and MSU Moorhead. The Mavericks will face the Golden Eagles on Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m., before taking on the Dragons on Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m.

The Mavericks wrap up their regular season schedule with six games in February. Three games will take place at home in Taylor Center against Sioux Falls on Feb. 5 (7:30 p.m.), Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 7 (5:30 p.m.) and Winona State on Feb. 19 (7:30 p.m.). MSU's three road opponents for the month will include Augustana on Feb. 12 (7:30 p.m.), Wayne State on Feb. 14 (TBA) and Concordia-St. Paul on Feb. 21 (TBA).

The first round of the NSIC Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 25 as will hosted at campus sites. The final three rounds will be held at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. from Feb. 28 – March 3.

The NCAA Central Region Tournament will begin on March 14-17 (site to be determined). The NCAA Elite Eight and Final Four will be held at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa. from March 25-27. The NCAA Championship game will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on April 5.
