MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State officials have announced today they have reached an agreement on a new five-year contract extension with football head coach
Todd Hoffner.

The new contract becomes effective July 1, 2025. No other terms were announced.

"Coach Hoffner and his football teams have been the model of consistency and are respected as one of the very best programs in NCAA Division II after completing another outstanding season last year. Maverick football is always going to be in the mix when it comes to contending for conference championships and postseason berths in the NCAA playoffs. There is lots of excitement ahead and we are thrilled that this long-term extension ensures that Coach Hoffner will continue to be part of it," said

Hoffner begins his 15
th season as head coach of the Mavericks in the fall. He holds a 142-37 overall record with 10 NCAA appearances, seven Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships, and two National Championship game appearances (2014 and 2019).

In 2024, Minnesota State football finished 11-4 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. The Mavericks defeated Augustana, Colorado State-Pueblo and Bemidji State before ending their long playoff run in the NCAA Semifinals at No. 1 Valdosta State.

This year, the team begins its campaign against Northwest Missouri State on Thursday, August 28 at 6 p.m. at Blakeslee Stadium.
