WACO, Texas – Following a dominating 48-7 victory at the University of Mary Saturday evening, the Minnesota State football team held firm in the newest American Coaches Association Top 25 at fourth. In the D2Football.com poll, the Mavericks remained third this week.
The Mavericks garnered 666 points in the poll and is fourth for the second-straight week in the AFCA poll. Ferris State, who has won 32-straight games leads the way with all 31, first-place votes and 775 points. Harding defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 76-0 in its first game of the season and is second with 744 points, while Kutztown won its opener 56-35 over Assumption to remain third this week with 707 points. MSU was fourth, followed by CSU Pueblo at fifth with 647 points with the top five remaining unchanged.
Grand Valley State moved to sixth this week, followed by Northwest Missouri State, Central Washington, who hosts top-ranked Ferris State this weekend, at ninth and Findlay following its 30-10 thumping of then-No. 9 University of Indianapolis is tenth.
Minnesota Duluth won on the last drive of the game over then-No. 16 Augustana on Saturday night, 30-23, and is 16ththis week, while Augie fell from 16th to 22nd. MSU Moorhead and Wayne State each are among others receiving votes.
As for the D2Football.com poll, Ferris State leads the way, followed by Harding, Minnesota State, Kutztown and Northwest Missouri State rounds out the top five. Grand Valley State is sixth, followed by CSU Pueblo, Western Colorado, Central Washington and Valdosta State completes the top ten. UMD is 16th and Augustana is 17th, while Wayne State checks in at 24th.
The Mavericks (2-0, 1-0 NSIC) open the 2026 home slate on Saturday at 6 p.m. versus rival Bemidji State (1-1, 1-0 NSIC) at Blakeslee Stadium.
