Last Time on the Diamond
Minnesota State is coming off a strong weekend performance, taking two out of three games from Augustana and clinching the NSIC regular season championship.

In Saturday's first game, the Mavericks won 6-5 in seven innings. Ike Mezzenga launched a two-run home run to right field in the first inning, but Augustana responded to take the lead. Louis Magers trimmed the deficit with a solo home run in the fourth, then tied the game with an RBI groundout in the fifth. Matthew Fleischhacker delivered the go-ahead two-run single in the sixth, and the Mavericks held on for the win.

In the second game Saturday, Minnesota State fell 5-4. After three scoreless innings, Augustana struck first. MSU tied the game in the fourth and took a 3-1 lead in the fifth thanks to a two-run shot from Magers. However, Augustana rallied late, scoring four runs in the seventh, to complete the comeback win.

On Sunday, the Mavericks secured the series and the conference title with a 4-1 victory. After a slow start, MSU broke through in the fifth inning when Jake Berkland singled and later scored on a base hit by Logan Miller. Miller then scored on a double from Fleischhacker. Augustana got an unearned run in the bottom half, but MSU pulled away late. Berkland scored again in the seventh on another RBI double by Miller. Lincoln Berry then capped off the scoring with a solo home run.

Heading into the series against Wayne State, Mezzenga sits just three home runs away from breaking the program's single-season record, while Magers is four away from breaking the program's record.
