Box Score ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Minnesota State baseball delivered a commanding performance Wednesday afternoon, defeating Northwestern College 18-2 in a single-game showdown.
The Mavericks wasted no time getting on the board, putting up four runs in the top of the first inning, highlighted by aggressive base running and capitalizing on a Raider error. Senior infielder
Louis Magers provided the big swing of the game, launching a three-run home run in the first to help MSU take a 4-0 lead.
The Mavericks added a run in the second inning and one more in the fourth, steadily building their lead to 6-0. Northwestern managed to get on the board with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but MSU's offense erupted again later to seal the game.
Minnesota State's pitching staff was strong from start to finish, combining for a six-hitter while striking out 10 Raider batters. Starter

MSU's bats totaled 13 hits and forced three Northwestern errors, while the Mavericks themselves were clean in the field. Magers led the team with three RBIs, while multiple players contributed with hits and stolen bases throughout the game.
The Mavericks are back in action as they face Minnesota Crookston this weekend in a double header on Friday and another game on Saturday to finish the series.
