MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State Mavericks (11-17-1, 5-17-1 WCHA) fell to the No. 11 St. Cloud State Huskies (14-10-5, 9-10-4 WCHA) on Friday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.
The Huskies opened the scoring with a lone goal by Emma Gentry in the first period. Early in the second,
Alexis Paddington netted the equalizer for the Mavericks at the 2:00 mark, assisted by
Jamie Nelson and
Claire Vekich. However, St. Cloud State responded in the third period with two additional goals to secure the victory.
Despite the loss, the Mavericks kept the shot count close, registering 15 shots on goal compared to the Huskies' 17.
Minnesota State will look to even the series as they face St. Cloud State again on Saturday at 2:02 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.
