MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State women's indoor track and field continued with strong performances at the Maverick Premier #2 Saturday at Myers Field House. The top-ranked Mavericks amassed 271.5 points to lead a field of ten teams. Northern Michigan placed second with 61 points and Winona State was third with 60.5 points.
"We were excited to host the Maverick Premier #2 and give our student-athletes another opportunity to build on their season performances," said head coach
Mike Turgeon. "This meet was a great chance for our team to continue developing, compete against strong competition, and set the tone for the remainder of the season. Our student-athletes have been putting in the work, and we're eager to see their efforts pay off as we look ahead to our conference and national championships over the next four weeks."
Adeyah Brewster helped the Mavericks take each of the top three spots in 60 meter dash with a finals time of 7.53, followed by
Ally Hammond (7.55) and
Madison Hubbard (7.78, season best).
Brewster also led the field in 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.44. Three Maverick student-athletes surpassed the meet record in 200 meters, including first place
Robynn Rolle-Curry (24.36, personal best), second place
Grace Obour (24.59) and fourth place
Eilika Lane (24.74).
Grace Hambel posted a season best in the 400 meters for third place (59.02). Ashley Overgaauw finished just ahead of Vivian Martinez (Cal Poly Pomona) at the line for a first place time of 5:00.15 in the mile.
The Mavericks assembled a first place 4x400 meter relay team, which included
Robynn Rolle-Curry,
Brianna Shroyer,
Grace Obour and
Miranda Lauvstad. MSU ran a time of 3:42.42.
The Mavericks occupied the top three spots in high jump, including Noemie Thibaud in first place at a height of 1.71m (5-7.25).
Former Maverick
Makayla Jackson set a Myers Field House record competing unattached in long jump with a mark of 6.37m (20-10.75).
Miranda Lauvstad took first place with a distance of 6.17m (20-3.00) for a meet record.
Paige Hickson led four top pole vaulters at a height of 3.83m (12-6.75).
Elvira Collvin was second at 3.68m (12-00.75).
Lillian Washington set a meet record with her first place triple jump of 12.34m (40-6.00).
Mony Andersen led the field in weight throw with a mark of 17.14m (56-2.75).
No. 1 ranked Minnesota State will host the Maverick Open next on February 21 at Myers Field House. The NSIC Indoor Championships take place Feb. 28-Mar. 1 in Mankato.
