12/23/2025 5:24:00 PM

DAVOS, Switzerland – Minnesota State men's hockey alumnus Jake Livingstone (defenseman) was chosen to represent Team Canada at the 2026 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, announced Tuesday. Livingstone is currently playing in the American Hockey League for Charlotte.

In 16 games for the Checkers, Livingstone has one goal and four assists, and holds a plus-3 rating. Last year, he recorded 16 points in 59 regular season games for the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL).

Held annually in Davos, Switzerland, since 1923, the six-team invitational tournament traditionally features club and national teams from Europe and North America. It is hosted by the Swiss professional team HC Davos each year from Dec. 26-31 at Eisstadion Davos.

Livingstone will play against current Maverick goaltender Alex Tracy (Chicago, Ill.), who was chosen to participate on the U.S. College Selects team in Davos. For more information, visit the Spengler Cup Website.

Livingstone made his National Hockey League debut on April 6, 2023 playing for the Nashville Predators at home against the Carolina Hurricanes. Livingstone signed a free-agent contract with Nashville following his three-year career at Minnesota State. He was a First Team All-CCHA member and the league's Defenseman of the Year (an award he also won in 2022), tallied eight goals and 27 assists for 35 points in 2022-23. Livingstone's 27 assists lead the team, while his 35 points were the second-highest total on the team.

Additionally, Livingstone was a four-time CCHA Defenseman of the Week and was the league's Defenseman of the Month. As a Maverick, Livingstone appeared in 111 games, scoring 21 goals and passing out 59 assists, for 80 career points. Additionally, he blocked 129 shots.

During his time as a Maverick, Livingstone was a part of teams that went 85-24-2, played on three MacNaughton Cup Championship teams, two Mason Cup championship teams, qualified for three NCAA Tournaments, two Frozen Fours and earned one trip to the national championship game.
