MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State baseball announced its 2025 Leadership Council group this week. The Leadership Council is revealed each year at the conclusion of fall practices and recognizes players who have earned the trust and respect of their teammates through their leadership, effort and attitude.
 
Similar to captains in select sports, the Leadership Council serves as a voice for the team and represents a team standard. Each member was voted on by teammates, coaches and support staff to lead in a specific area that is important to Maverick baseball culture.
 
Performance Leader – Jake Berkland (So., infielder, Wayzata, Minn.)
Locker Room Leader – Louis Magers (Sr., pitcher/first base, Mankato, Minn.)
Social Leader – Ben Irsfeld (Sr., pitcher, Sioux Falls, S.D.)
Weight Room Leader – Brandon Vlcko (Sr., catcher, Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
Maverick Successor – Gannon Reidinger (Fr., pitcher, Montevideo, Minn.)
Maverick Successor – Coltin Smith (Fr., catcher, Lakeville, Minn.)
 
Minnesota State baseball finished the 2025 season with a 51-8 overall record, including 36-4 in NSIC games. The team won the NSIC Regular Season and NSIC Tournament titles. The 2026 regular season begins in February.
