MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State women's soccer team (9-0-2, 7-0-1 NSIC) continues NSIC action this weekend, traveling to St. Paul on Friday to face Concordia-St. Paul (8-1-2, 5-1-2 NSIC) at 6 p.m., before returning home Sunday to host Winona State (5-2-3, 4-2-2 NSIC) at 1 p.m. at The Pitch.
The Mavericks enter the weekend following a 3-0 win over Minnesota Duluth and a 2-2 draw with Bemidji State.
On Friday, Minnesota State shut out Minnesota Duluth 3-0 at The Pitch. The Mavericks controlled play early, creating several scoring chances from the opening whistle. Sophomore

Maddix Archer both challenged the Bulldogs' goalkeeper, but their shots were denied by Kaycee Chavez. Despite steady pressure and multiple corner kicks, the match remained scoreless at halftime.
Minnesota State found its offensive rhythm in the second half, starting with senior
Avery Korsching's goal in the 61st minute off assists from Archer and sophomore
Marin Johnson. Johnson then doubled the lead in the 71st minute following a corner kick, assisted by junior
Ruthie Gyasi. Senior
Maille Mathis capped off the scoring in the 80th minute, finishing a play set up by Korsching and senior
Addison Clarey.
Mathis tallied one goal on three shots, Johnson recorded a goal and an assist, and Korsching contributed a goal and an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper
Lauren McAlpine made two saves to earn her 10th shutout of the season.
On Sunday, the Mavericks tied Bemidji State 2-2, marking the first time this season that MSU has allowed a goal. The Beavers scored early in the second minute before Mathis equalized in the 13th off a pass from sophomore
Reese Hilsenbeck.
Minnesota State took a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute when
Amara Smith scored a header from Korsching, but Bemidji State's Katrina Barthelt netted her second goal of the match in the 85th minute to even the score. The Mavericks outshot the Beavers 21-10 and held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks. McAlpine finished with three saves.

Minnesota State holds a 22-2-1 all-time record against Concordia-St. Paul. The Mavericks defeated the Golden Bears 3-0 in their most recent meeting. Last weekend, CSP picked up wins over MSU Moorhead and Minnesota Crookston. Junior Sophia Haase leads the Bears with seven goals and 14 points this season.
About Winona State
Minnesota State owns an 18-14-1 all-time record against Winona State. The Mavericks edged the Warriors 1-0 in their last matchup. Winona State also defeated Minnesota Crookston and MSU Moorhead last weekend.
Sophomores Madison Barnick and Kyleigh Jannisch lead the team offensively with four goals and eight points each.
