Four Mavericks Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

MANKATO, Minn. --- A total of four Minnesota State football players have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for their efforts on the field and in the classroom this season.

Seniors Cody Brown, Marshall Foerner and Joey Goettl, along with junior Caleb Paulus have earned CSC Academic All-District honors.

A defensive lineman from Madison, S.D., Cody Brown started in all 14 games for the Mavericks this past season. Brown recorded 54 tackles and led the team in tackles for loss with 14.5 and sacks with 6.0. Earlier this season, Brown was named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Brown owns a 3.68 GPA and is majoring in computer information technology.

An offensive lineman from Plano, Ill., Marshall Foerner played and started in 13 games for the Mavericks this past season. As a member of the offensive line he helped the Mavericks rush for 2,592 yard and 32 touchdowns, while allowing just 18 sacks. Foerner earned D2Football.com First Team Offense honors. Earlier this season he was named to the AFCA All-American First Team and the Don Hansen All-American Second Team. Foerner is pursuing his MBA and owns a 3.63 GPA.

A defensive back from Marshfield, Wis., Joey Goettl started in all 14 games for the Mavericks this past season as he tallied 46 tackles and three interceptions. Earlier this season he was named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Goettl owns a 3.50 GPA and is majoring in marketing.

A defensive lineman from West Des Moines, Iowa, Caleb Paulus played in all 14 games for the Mavericks this past season. He recorded 21 tackles, including six for a loss, while blocking three kicks. He was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team last season. Paulus owns a 3.80 GPA and is majoring in exercise science.

Minnesota State finished its season with an 11-4 record as it advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.
