MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State men's hockey was ranked No. 14 in the nation in this week's USCHO.com Top-20 poll on Monday (Jan. 20). The Mavericks (16-6-2, 11-3-2 CCHA) were the only CCHA team inside the Top-20. However, Augustana, Michigan Tech and Bowling Green also received national votes.
Following a weekend split against Michigan Tech at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center, the Mavericks travel to Ferris State for a two-game set Friday/Saturday at Ewigleben Arena. The CCHA leading Mavericks continue to hold opponents to 1.54 goals per game, which tops all Division I squads. Junior goaltender
Alex Tracy leads the country in goals against average (1.449) and is fourth in save percentage (.942).Â
Boston College received 36 first place votes to ascend to the No. 1 ranking in Division I. Michigan State (13 first place votes) fell to No. 2, followed by Western Michigan, Minnesota (one first place vote) and Denver.Â
The Mavericks have 10 games remaining in the regular season, in pursuit of the MacNaughton Cup, awarded to the winner of the CCHA Regular Season Champion. The Mavericks have won the MacNaughton Cup six of the past seven seasons, with Bemidji State currently in possession.
