HUDSON, Wis. --- The Minnesota State men's golf team finished the Maverick Fall Brawl Tuesday evening.
The Maverick Fall Brawl was held at the Troy Burne Golf Club (par 71) in Hudson, Wis.
"In a little bit more windy conditions the men showed signs of improvement, but we still need to learn to finish out the round as a team," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "I'm super happy for
Ryan Darling finishing in a tie for second in a strong conference field. Shooting even par over two days on that golf course is a great score.
"We look forward to him continuing his success and helping lead our team as we get further into the season."
The Maverick "A" team finished in eighth place with a score of 302-299—601 (+33), while the Maverick "B" team finished seventh with a score of 299-301—600 (+32). Concordia-St. Paul won the event with a 288-289—577 (+9). Individually, Mason Weeks from Sioux Falls finished first with a score of 70-71—141 (-1).
Ryan Darling of the Maverick "B" team paced MSU in the event as he finished tied of second in the individual standings with a score of 71-71—142 (E).
Leo Weschay took 14th place with a 72-75—149 (+5), while
Jack Scharder turned in a 78-77—155 (+13) to finish 46th.
Michael Johnson took 47th with a 78-78—156 (+14), while
Logan Peroutka posting an 85-83—168 (+26) to finish 72nd.
Karson Patten led the Maverick "A" team as he finished in 23rd with a 76-73—149 (+7).
Alex Bradley finished one stroke behind Patten in 28th place as he posted a 77-73---150 (+8).
Marcus Belka finished in 35th place as he added a 75-76--151 (+9), while
Hogan Ordal followed in 37th with scores of 75-77-152 (+10).
Jack Justesen finished in 40th place with a 76-77—153 (+11).
Minnesota State continues its season next week as it takes part in the two-day Watkins Invitational from Sept. 23-24. The invitational will be hosted by Winona State at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
