SMITHVILLE, Mo. --- The Minnesota State men's golf team finished round one of the NSIC Men's Conference Preview in ninth place Monday.
The two-round NSIC Men's Conference Preview is being held at the par-72 Paradise Pointe Complex in Smithville, Mo. As a team, MSU shot a 305 (+17) in round one to finish the day in ninth place. Winona State leads the team standings with a 290 (+2) after the first round. Southwestern CC's Freddie Muggeridge leads the individual standings with a 69 (-3).
Junior
Karson Patten led the Mavericks in round one as he finished the day tied for second with a 70 (-2). Patten recorded six birdies on the day, including four on the front nine.
Senior
Hogan Ordal and sophomore
Michael Johnson each shot a 78 (+6) in round one, with Johnson recording two birdies, while Ordal notched one. Senior
Leo Werschay and freshman
Sam Swavely followed one stroke behind Johnson and Ordal as they both shot 79 (+7).
Freshman
Paul Rezko and junior
Jack Schrader competed independently. Rezko shot a 76 (+4), that included a pair of birdies, while Schrader posted a 91 (+19).
