Ghada Hamdani (Bizerte, Tunisha) took home Field Athlete of the Week and senior
Denisha Cartwright (Nassau, Bahamas) won Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office.
Last week, Cartwright won Division II National Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Drake Relays. This week she broke a facility and meet record in the 200m dash at the Maverick Open #1 at Mark Shuck Outdoor Track & Field on campus.
Cartwright ran a time of 23.52, which was tied for 14
th fastest in Division II this season. She also owns a mark of 23.45 from the Pacific Coast Invite back on April 11. In addition, Cartwright broke a facility record in 100m hurdles with a time of 12.99. The time was the second fastest to her own top time of 12.94 in Division II this season. Cartwright has been named NSIC Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.
Hamdani placed second at the Maverick Open #1 in the triple jump. She jumped a personal best distance of 12.81m (42'0.5") ranking third in NCAA Division II and second on the MSU all-time list.
Minnesota State hosts the NSIC Outdoor Championships May 9-11 at the Mark Schuck Outdoor Track and Field Complex. The NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 23-25 in Emporia, Kansas.
