Mavericks Take Third at Norse Invite

Decorah, Iowa – The Minnesota State women's outdoor track and field team traveled to Iowa today to compete at the Norse Invite, taking home third as a team with 118 points, along with four first place finishes.
 
With the first podium finish, freshman Lauren Bird threw for 46.57m (162' 7") in the hammer throw, setting a new meet record and makes the MSU all-time outdoor record book in 11th place. Freshman Aubri Brown, throwing for a personal best of 47.38m (155' 5"), placed third in the event. Three other freshmen placed in the top 15: Sarah Zino in 9th (39.10m, 128' 3"), Emma Osier in 12th (37.27m, 122' 3"), and Jadyn Hart in 15th (35.47m, 116' 4").
 
In the next throwing event, senior Madeline Fretag placed first in the shot put event with a heave of 13.24m (43' 5.25"). Next, placing in third, fourth, and fifth was freshmen Brown (12.46m, 40' 10.5"), Bird (12.40m, 40' 8.25"), and Hart (12.31m 40' 4.75"), respectively. The final placer in the event was Osier, with a throw of 11.10m (36' 5").
 
Freshman Elise Jensen took first in the discus throw with a PR throw of 42.88m (140' 8"). Just behind Jensen's throw, Fretag threw for 42.60m (139' 9") to place second. Four Mavericks also took the 4th-7th places. Brown took fourth with her throw of 41.22m (135' 3"), followed by senior Mack Rath in fifth (41.17m, 135' 1"). In sixth and seventh, Hart and freshman Julia Alberts threw for 39.79m (130' 6") and 39.40m (129' 3"), respectively.
 
With the final first place finish of the meet, sophomore Ashley Cridlebaugh set a meet personal record with a jump of 1.65m (5' 0.5") in high jump. Junior Olivia Solis placed fourth with a jump of 1.60m (5' 0.3"), followed by senior Lauren Preiner in seventh after jumping 1.55m (5' 0.1"). Last for the Mavericks in the event was freshman Emilynn Molesky, placing 13th after her jump of 1.40m (4' 7").
 
For the last field event, junior Molly Kahl placed third in the long jump with a jump of 5.10m (16' 8.75"), along with freshman Janet Addo, who jumped for 4.48m (14' 8.5") to place 12th.
 
In the 100m dash, sophomore Tiffany Kolb, freshman Addo, sophomore Teagan Ramboldt placed eighth (13.09s), 10th (13.14s), and 12th (13.20s), respectively.
 
Running the 100m hurdles, Molesky placed second with a time of 15.76 seconds. Junior Rachel Jaworski ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:11.41 to place fifth.
 
Freshman Ella Erickson ran the 400m race in 1:01.91, placing fourth in the event.
 
In the final event of the day, junior Amaiya Barnes ran the 200m open, finishing in fourth with a time of 26.04 seconds. In 11th, Ramboldt finished with a time of 27.35s and Erickson ran a PR of 27.45s to place 14th.
 
The Mavericks travel to Long Beach, Calif. this next week to compete in a trio of invites from April 11th-13th, along with the Maverick Invite on April 13th.
