Saint Peter, Minn. – The men's outdoor track and field team split competition between the Drake Relays and Drake Alternative, with four Mavericks placing first at the Drake Alternative.
In the 5000m run, junior
Adam Bohm placed first with a personal best time of 15:24.48. Freshman
Erek Ross took fifth place after a time of 16:04.90.
Freshman
Stephane Kone recorded a personal best time in the 110m hurdles, placing second with a time of 15.43s. In the 400m hurdles, sophomore
Chance Swenson took first after crossing the line at 55.92s.
With personal record times, sophomore
Brock Unger placed third in the 200m dash (21.99s), freshman
Gavin Greiner finished in ninth with a time of 22.91s, and freshman
Oluwadamilola Babalola ran the 100m dash and placed sixth with a time of 11.35s.
In the 1500m dash, freshman
Grant Mayers took third with a personal best time of 4:08.76 in the event. Senior
Caden Speikers finished in fifth with a time of 4:12.26.
Junior
Jed Hansen placed first in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.67m (15' 3.75"). Taking second was freshman
Blake Wakeling with a height of 4.37m (14' 4").
With a leap of 13.05m (42' 9.75"), sophomore
Alexander Dacruz took second in the triple jump.
In the shot put, junior
Oliver Andersen finished in seventh with a heave of 14.60m (47' 11"), followed by freshman
Justin Fretag in ninth with a throw of 14.16m (46' 5.5").
Andersen also competed in the discus, taking first place with a distance of 49.29m (161' 8"). Fretag took third after throwing for 46.03m (151'), and finished in 10
th in the hammer throw (43.65m, 153' 2").
The Mavericks look to host the Maverick Open #1 on Wednesday, May 1
st, followed by the Maverick Open #2 on Saturday, May 4
th.
