Mankato, Minn. – The Mavericks women's team competed at the Holst Invite and Dewey Donat Classic today, finishing with two championships and five personal best marks.
In the pole vault, freshman
Hope Stangel took first with a height of 3.65m (11' 11.75"). In second was junior
Paige Bauer, after clearing 3.35m (10' 11.75"). With a vault of 3.20m (10' 6"), junior
Toryn Richards took fourth. Sophomore
Jenna Sikel and senior
Micah Zaemisch tied for fifth with vaults of 3.05m (10').
In the 800m dash, freshman
Addison Peed recorded a personal best time of 2:16.90 to place fifth. Junior
Makayla Bishop placed sixth after a personal record time of 4:44.11 in the 1500m run.
Senior
Alison Zigler ran the 10,000m run in 39:14.54 to place third. Finishing sixth was junior
Megan Narveson in 41:13.48. Both were personal record times.
In the 3000m steeplechase, sophomore
Madison Matzek ran an 11:23.74 to place second.
Senior
Madeline Fretag took first in the discus event, throwing for 47.66m (156' 4"). Fretag also placed second in the shotput with a throw of 13.23m (43' 5"), and ninth in the hammer throw. 42.75m (140' 3"). Freshman
Lauren Bird also competed in the shotput, finishing seventh after her best throw of 12.35m (40' 6.25"0), along with finishing third in the hammer throw after a heave of 49.56m (162' 7").
The women's team also had discus throwers competing at the Dewey Donat Classic. Placing second was freshman
Julia Alberts after a throw of 40.89m (134' 2"). Senior
Mack Rath took third with a throw of 40.25m (132'), along with freshman
Sarah Zino finishing in fourth with a personal best throw of 39.91m (130' 11"). Also competing was freshmen
Aubri Brown,
Maya Shorter, and
Jadyn Hart, placing sixth (39.25m, 128',09"), eighth (37.73m, 123' 09"0, and ninth (35.79m, 117' 5"), respectively.
