Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State men's outdoor track and field team traveled to the Holst Invite in St. Paul, while sending the throwing squad to the Dewey Donat Classic hosted by Northern State in South Dakota.
Setting the tone for the Holst Invite was sophomore
Jacob Bennett with a personal best time of 4:02.09 in the 1500m run to top the podium. Close behind was teammate
Leif Larsen to place second. The junior also had a personal best time of 4:03.42. Finishing in fifth was freshman
Erek Ross, running for 4:13.61, also a personal record time.
Junior
Ray Ure also took home a championship title in the 3000m steeplechase, with a time of 9:32.69. Junior
Adam Bohm ran a 9:43.45 to finish third.
In the 800m dash, freshman
Paul Lins took fourth with a time of 1:56.15. Lins also ran in the 4x400m relay as the second leg, joined by Bennett, Larsen, and Ure to place second with a time of 3:29.02.
For the only field event at the Holst Invite, junior
Jed Hansen took first in the pole vault, with a vault in 4.60m (15' 1"). Freshman
Blake Wakeling vaulted for 4.45m (14' 7.25") to place second.
At the Dewey Donat Classic, the men's throwers competed in the discus event. Senior
Carter Aguilera threw the farthest in the event with a throw of 54.00m (177' 2"). In second, sophomore
Oliver Andersen had a throw of 49.33m (161" 10"). Freshman
Justin Fretag placed fifth after a throw of 44.10m (144' 8"). Also competing and placing was junior
Liam Byrne in sixth, 43.84m (143' 10").
